Day 688 - It's Been A Long Year
2008 - Day 366
The Year In Review
Well, last year, I finished the hoping that this year would be better than the last and honestly, it has. This year has been incredibly eventful, I graduated from highschool , I went off to college, I got my license and can finally drive, I got a car, I went to prom, I spent the summer working at Food Lion, I got a new iPod, I learned to play the ukulele , and I wore a pair of jeans for the first time in 10 years. I've found a group of friends that I really get along with, and I've gone under the knife and had major jaw surgery. I also took two trips to Washington DC once in January and once in May, went on a cruise to Jamaica and the Cayman Islands and went rafting in West by god Virginia, went to an Eddie Money concert and moved from a a beach house on Ocean Isle Beach to what is now my home in Little River, SC.
In the realm of politics, this year I met Fred Dalton Thompson, John McCain and Mike Huckabee and I attended the Republican Debate in Myrtle Beach SC. I also heard Bill Clinton speak in Whiteville, NC. I was the campaign photographer for Will Breazeale, a republican candidate for congress, he lost in November, but he's running again in 2010.
In college I've had two room mates, Nick, a nice guy but a little too much of a "free spirit" for us to work well as room mates, and Dan, a saxophone playing goody-good type who aspires to remain a virgin his entire life, raise weimaraner, grow a beard and become an english professor. Dan, If you're reading this, you actually said that, I'm not making it up. I have a 3.3 GPA after my first semester and overall I'm really enjoying my college experience even though I haven't gone to a single party or engaged in any elicit activities. I've watched 4 sunrises after staying up all night and I have driven a little over 5 thousand miles since I've had my car, mostly between home and school for the many doctors appointments I had leading up to my surgery.
In the world of photography, I've upgraded from a D200 to a D3, I've bought 2 new lenses (Nikon 50mm f/1.4, Nikon 17-35mm f/2.8), I've gotten over 50,000 photostream views, 75,289 over all and well over 100,000 views on my pictures. I've gotten over 2 thousand comments and talked to all sorts of wonderful photographers. I've handed my camera over to 3 different people (My mother, Ginny and my sister) and posted their pictures on flickr, Not to mention how much I've learned and improved over the last year.
I'd like to take this opportunity to say thank you to everyone who has commented on my pictures or looked at my photostream over the last year, It's been a lot of fun and I'm looking forward to seeing how much everyone will improve in 2009.
This actually marks the end of my first real 365(6) set, but don't worry, I'm not going anywhere. I've still got my "Life in Pictures" set that I don't have any intention of stopping. I'm currently on day 688.
Well now I'm rambling so I'd like to say Happy New Year to everyone and good luck with 2009.
