Malcolm X, controversial civil rights leader, mural in Philadelphia

Malcolm X was an African American minister, and human rights activist who was a popular figure during the civil rights movement. In 1965 he was assassinated by 3 members of the Nation of Islam from which he had resigned. The mural includes his quotation " “Education is our passport to the future. For tomorrow belongs to the people who prepare for it today.” The mural is at RIdge and W. Dauphin Streets in the Strawberry Mansion neighborhood, a few blocks from the John Coltrane mural..
