DVIRC and its partners have put in place the capacity to help manufacturers innovate by making it easier and quicker to learn about, assess and when appropriate, invest in specific advanced manufacturing technologies. The Additive Manufacturing Immersion course prepares introduces skilled professionals to additive manufacturing with a intensive three day course that covers the technology from a hands on and theoretical perspective. Students learn when AM is appropriate including the benefits and limitations. They also provided a material extrusion 3D printer at their desk, and after training, are encouraged to get familiar with the processes by printing on their own. Students are also trained on a simple CAD program that they use to compete in a design challenge at the end of the third day.
