Intern Audrey Oldenkanp is using the Netzsch LFA457 ( www.netzsch-thermal-analysis.com/us/products-solutions/th... )thermal diffusivity analyzer. Thermal diffusivity is used to calculate thermal conductivity, a very useful property in the design of furnaces, engines and other high-temperature equipment. The specimen at the sharp end of the tweezer is a ceramic disc from our Refractories group.
