SPECTACLED REDSTART Myioborus melanocephalus. This Spectacled Redstart was seen feeding in shrubbery east of the town of Papallacta high on the east slope of the Andes in northern Ecuador at 1:42 PM pn June 27, 2014.

 

The Spectacled Redstart belongs to the family Parulidae (New World Warblers or Wood Warblers). It lives in the Andes of Colombia, Ecuador, Perú and Bolivia.

 

Some recent authors have referred to members of the genus Myioborus as "Whitestarts" and to this species as the Spectacled Whitestart.
