JRO384L Blagdon Lioness
In August 1976 I took a day trip to Plymouth with my local operator Blagdon Lioness , with owner Terry Lyons driving JRO384L. Here he is heading back into Plymouth to pick up for the return journey.
JRO384L was a Bedford YRT / Plaxton Panorama Elite III C53F new to Guards , London W1 in February 1973. Blagdon Lioness acquired it from them in June 1975 , when it became the first 11m coach in the fleet. It was sold to Millman , Buckfastleigh in March 1981. It was scrapped at Wigleys , Carlton in 1991.
Blagdon Lioness Coaches Ltd took over from O G A Lyons , trading as Blagdon Lioness in January 1968. The last coach was sold in January 2013 - Bova WA03HRD - and the PSV operators licence was surrendered in April 2016. The company still exists however , run by Terry's son Michael providing Horse Drawn Carriages for funerals etc. from the same premises.
