NCDOT crews operating a motor grader and a dump truck equipped with a plow spent six hours Sunday clearing hail off roads in northwestern Rowan County from the Mt. Ulla community to the Woodleaf community. The hail was 6-8 inches deep in some locations, with drifts next to buildings as deep as 4.5 feet.
