130216-N-DU438-071 GULF OF THAILAND (Feb. 16, 2013)— Fire Controlman 3rd Class Benjamin Briggs, originally from Fort Collins, Colo., stands a watch for the closed in weapons system in the ship’s combat information center aboard the forward-deployed amphibious assault ship USS Bonhomme Richard (LHD 6) to participate in Cobra Gold. The Bonhomme Richard Amphibious Ready Group, currently on deployment in the U.S. 7th Fleet area of operations, is taking part in Cobra Gold, a Thai-U.S. co-sponsored multinational joint exercise designed to advance regional security by exercising a robust multinational force from nations sharing common goals and security commitments in the Asia-Pacific region.
