CCC (Civilian Conservation Corps) enrollees carrying on erosion control operations along Vicksburg National Military Park's Graveyard Road in front of Stockade Redan. Here huge gullies which were eating their way towards the Redan have been filled and sloped. NOTE: Due to the peculiar character of the soil at Vicksburg (an inorganic loess formation), this work has been of special importance. 1934 image by National Park Service photographer George A. Grant. Other NPS Image Numbers: Wa. 36
