Nathan Chantrell
Open University Hektor III
The Hektor III was used by the Open University for computing courses in the early 1980s. It has a 8085A CPU running at 3.024 MHz and 64 KB RAM, 8K ROM and came with a separate 1200/75-baud modem. Video output is monochrome only with 80x24, 40x24 and 73x35 text modes and a 640x240 graphic mode. It has a built in speaker, TV/RF output, composite video output, cassette port, serial port and a 40-pin interface for an external peripheral board.
There are not many of these around as they were supposed to go back to the OU at the end of the course.
I also have the modem for it and the ring bound HEF User Manual.
