This woman is a Peuhl (fula) refugee in a camp in southern Chad. I met her while working in the refugee camps distributing mosquito nets. Malaria is the number one killer in the camps, but only one of many challenges the refugees face. Other infectious diseases such as diarrhea and pneumonia are common and care for chronic diseases faced by older people is virtually non-existent. Still, it's an improvement over the situation in CAR, where they face the constant threat of violence and practically no modern health care.
