A Mouse for Church Mouse

Probably the only person I know who won't be grossed out by a photo of a "non-pet" mouse ---- this one's for you Dawn! And no, that is not snow, but a piece of bread (God only knows where he found it!) that this little intruder was trying desperately to get through this mouse hole far under my sink.

Nobody can understand why I don't set traps or poison because YES, there are mice living in my walls.

Here's my reasoning why I don't:

1.) I really can't purposely kill a wild creature

2.) It's a hopeless cause; even if I did get rid of them, there are many more that would come inside, especially when it's only 12F (-11C) outside, like right now.

3.) They are field mice & although they are a nuisance, I don't think they carry any "city" diseases.

4.) They don't actually come INTO the living areas --- ya right!!

5.) They are cute -- several years ago, I had 8 babies get caught in the bottom of an almost empty dog food bin in the storage area, and if you had ever seen 8 tiny faces looking up at you begging for mercy, even the most squeamish person would not have done anything but what I did --- take them far up the lane, and let them go. (The next morning there were 5 more baby mice, but my son said they just followed me home, because they knew I was a soft touch)
