Western Timber Wolf
Western Timberwolf, Parc animalier de Sainte-Croix, France
The Western Timberwolf is a sub-species of the grey wolf and lives in western Canada and Alaska.
One of the characteristics of this subspecies is the great variability of colors: black or white, gray or yellowish, including within the same pack.
Often black wolves turn gray, then white as they age.
Canis Lupus occidentalis includes several ancient subspecies such as that of the Mackenzie wolves (Canis lupus mackenzii) or even that of the tundra wolves (Canis lupus tundrarum).
Since its reintroduction in Yellowstone, the ecosystem has returned to its equilibrium, allowing in particular the disappeared species to return.
