Steller's Jay
Suddenly, a Steller's jay landed directly in front of my camera. Kindly, he looked at me and waited until I've been done with shooting my pictures.
This American songbird is up to 30cm long, making it the largest jay type in North America. His harsh cry sometimes sounds like the red-tailed hawk's one, to defend feeding grounds and to scare away other birds.
You meet this species mostly in forested mountain slopes or light forest areas, from Alaska to California. Sometimes they can be sighted in Middle America or flatlands, in winter for example.
In addition, the Steller's jay is also the national bird of the Canadian province of "British Columbia".
