DON RICHMOND, Chaplain
I grew up in Saskatchewan, learning to love the game of hockey. As a boy, I spent most of the winter playing hockey after school on the rink that my dad made in our yard. I married my wife Lorraine in 1979 while attending college to become a minister. I graduated in 1980 and served full time in the church for 26 years. In 2000 I began to serve the Vernon Vipers Jr hockey club as their chaplain. In 2006, Lorraine and I moved to West Kelowna, where I have been serving both the West Kelowna Warriors (BCHL) and the Kelowna Chiefs (KIJHL) as team chaplain. Now into my 20th chaplaincy season, I still enjoy the role of giving stable counsel and advice to junior hockey players on a regular basis. I am honoured to team up with Myles Mattila to further the great cause of MINDRIGHT, not only in the Kootenay International Hockey League, but all around the world of hockey.
