My Pond

One hippo had the pond all to himself. There was a nearby pond with another hippo in it. But was that good enough for it? No, you say and you be right! Well, our hero in his own beautiful pond was going to have none of it. When the intruder approached his sacred territory, he rushed forward ready to repel the intruder. Battle on folks. At first the intruder retreated but then changed his mind and came back, willing to take some damage to get in what must be a better pond than the one he came from. (They both looked the same to me.) Here they are, facing off at that point in the story. No other hippos were around to witness the battle royale that was about to take place. They showed each other their big teeth and threatened. And threatened some more. They kept threatening. I was ready to record it, their sole witness, to share their battle with the world! Then our hero retreated to one side of the pond and his new neighbor got comfortable in his upgraded accommodations. Peace in the Mara! Be well and prosper!
