Red-winged Blackbird Feeding Time (1 of 1)

It’s been fun watching Red-winged Blackbird chicks develop. The first few days they could hardly raise their heads and their eyes were still closed. Now they are much stronger, although very frail looking things. I identified with the male, who stayed in the vicinity of the nest but didn’t participate in the feeding, at least during my watch. I remember being afraid of hurting my infant son when he was first born and relied heavily upon my wife, who just seemed to know what to do. Now that the chicks are a bit stronger, the male has joined in with the feeding process, although his visits are much less frequent that mom’s. I had to remove in post one very annoying leaf. (There’s always at least one!) (Agelaius phoeniceus) (Sony a1, 70-200mm @200mm, 1/500 second, f/8, ISO 2500)
