Coronated Tree Frog (1 of 1)

This is known as the Coronated, Spiny-headed or Crowned Tree Frog. (Anotheca spinosa). Costa Rica is rich with nature. One of the treats on the trip I just took was going into the forest and finding frogs and snakes. Some of the subjects we photographed, particularly the venomous snakes, were captive; but most were found by our guides as we explored the night jungle. We were wearing high rubber mud boots, as some protection against snakes, but never ran into anything dangerous. We, or should I say our guides, did find a lot of subjects, such as this one. I read that this one spends its whole life off the ground and has a life span of up to 15 years.
