Rhino Kiss (1 of 1)
Sorry if you are seeing this one twice or if your comments no longer appear. I inadvertently deleted it.
The smaller rhino to the right was alone at the water hole when the larger one approached for a drink of his own. The smaller one was clearly nervous, especially when the larger approached. Not sure if there was going to be love or violence in store I watched intently, my eye glued to the camera. Instead, a nice gentle kiss good night. A pleasant end to the day.
These are black rhinos, a critically endangered species. Not sure where black rhinos got their name. My understanding is that white rhinos are named for their wide mouth and over time and different accents the word "wide" became "white". Like elephants, rhino horn has led to poaching and but for the protection afforded to them we might lose these fascinating creatures.
