'New' Church
St Thomas' Church, Heptonstall, Calderdale, West Yorkshire, HX7 7PL. 26 April 09.
The American poet Sylvia Plath is buried in the churchyard.
Heptonstall is a small Pennine hill top village which grew with the development of the textile trade in the 16th Century.
The village also has the oldest Methodist church in continuous use in the world which I failed to get a decent photo of. It's an octagonal chapel. The foundation stone was laid by John Wesley himself. See www.uppercaldermethodists.org.uk/e.html?1213280187
