Old Church
Church of St Thomas a Beckett, Heptonstall, Calderdale, West Yorkshire, HX7 7PL. 26 April 09.
Heptonstall's original church was named after St Thomas a Becket, founded circa 1260 and was altered and added to over several centuries. It was damaged by a gale in 1847 (and is now only a shell), a new church of St Thomas, was built in the same churchyard.
The village also has the oldest Methodist church in continuous use in the world which I failed to get a decent photo of. It's an octagonal chapel. The foundation stone was laid by John Wesley himself. See www.uppercaldermethodists.org.uk/e.html?1213280187
