Tampa Electric - Apollo Beach
Researchers from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) and partners conducted a statewide aerial survey in February 2015 to determine a minimum count of manatees in Florida waters.
During the February count, a team of 20 observers from 11 organizations counted 3,333 manatees on Florida’s east coast and 2,730 on the west coast of the state, bringing the preliminary count to 6,063 manatees statewide (a record high).
