"15/16 Coral Lightning Exercise" / Rockwell International (now part of Boeing) B-1B "Lancer" bombers conduct air drills with Japanese fighters near Senkaku Islands

U.S. Airmen assigned to the 37th Expeditionary Bomb Squadron, deployed from Ellsworth Air Force Base (AFB), S.D. to Andersen AFB, Guam, prepare Rockwell International (now part of Boeing) B-1B Lancer (sn 85-0081) for a bilateral mission with Japan Air Self-Defense Force F-15s in the vicinity of the Senkaku Islands, Aug. 15, 2017. These training flights with Japan demonstrate the solidarity and resolve we share with our allies to preserve peace and security in the Indo-Asia-Pacific.

 

 

Rockwell International (now part of Boeing) B-1B "Lancer" (sn 85-0081) named "Equalier" with 28th BW in Jul 1988. Nosegear collapsed at Diego Garcia Dec 14, 2004. This caused the B-1 fleet to be grounded pending inspection of the nose landing gear. The plane had taken off from Diego Garcia on the way back to Ellsworth but was forced to return due to an abnormal nose landing gear indication. It landed and taxied back to its parking spot, idled for a while, then the nose just fell to the ground. Named "After Shock" with 127th BS/184th BW in Sep 2000 34th BS Active sep08 jul14
