When was at Castlepoint chasing a few waves made my way to the end of the lagoon beach and eventually up a few steps on the track running up the hill after avoiding a adult Fur Seal. After setting up another grumpy seal kicked this little one out of its spot and it decided that i may need company. But knowing of the general rules of keeping your distance from the Seals tried a cease and desist type of encouragement. Seemed to work as it decided that the grass slope was more inviting.
Seems to be a bit of a explosion in seal numbers now which isn't such a bad thing but pays to keep a eye out as its so easy to stumble upon where they are resting...and the adults have some impressive teeth. So if you are on a more remote beach just keep a eye out especially if you are exercising your dog.
