Tongaporutu peculiarity...

Facebook | 500px | Website | Instagram

Have a little collection of coastal images from wanders around the Tongaporutu coastline which is a treasure trove of geological interest. Not the least is this rock seemingly being scoured out of the cliff face with each high tide. There is also a constant flow of fresh water down the cliff face which keeps the cliff wet which would explain the green algae growth. It was really a bright green like this. Obviously the whiter rock would be of a harder consistency to withstand the water blasting...no doubt a geologist within our ranks would be able to explain more.
