North Carolina State Capitol Police guard against 2nd amendment advocates today, who claimed were coming armed to protest government stay at home orders.
NC State Capitol Police, Wake County Sheriff, Raleigh Police and Highway Patrol today guarded the state capitol grounds when they received information that armed pro second amendment citizens would be converging on the state capitol today, to protest the current executive orders that have sent millions of citizens to the unemployment lines and food banks. But unlike Lansing, Michigan, the rally had under 20 participants and none entered the heavily guarded state capitol in Raleigh, NC. And that is because they were formally notified that NC State Law prohibits firearms in the capitol and on its grounds, of course with the exception of police and a variety of other sundry government officials.
" § 14-269.4. Weapons on certain State property and in courthouses.
It shall be unlawful for any person to possess, or carry, whether openly or concealed, any deadly weapon, not used solely for instructional or officially sanctioned ceremonial purposes in the State Capitol Building, the Executive Mansion, the Western Residence of the Governor, or on the grounds of any of these buildings, and in any building housing any court of the General Court of Justice. If a court is housed in a building containing nonpublic uses in addition to the court, then this prohibition shall apply only to that portion of the building used for court purposes while the building is being used for court purposes."
