Afterbirth
I wasn't aware that cows ate their afterbirth until I saw it. It makes sense for them to get rid of it as to not attract predators and after googling I also found out it is packed with protein , calcium and iron which is aids in the nutritional balance for the mamma cow.
Out of all the cows who have given birth I have only seen one cow leave some of the placenta. All the others ate theirs.
This is Helen with her cheeky, energetic little calf. I zoomed in for this as Helen saw me getting closer she hurriedly tried to finish the placenta, thinking that maybe I was a predator. So I snapped a few shots and headed home.
