Gator Eye

I took an overnight trip to another zoo about 3hrs away. I have been there before but wanted to really go and enjoy my time so i booked a motel and had 2 full days taking photos.

I was in my element.

So many different species there that I needed to learn about.

These gator's fascinated me because they are different to the croc that I am used to but also the area they are kept allowed me to try and get different shots like this one.

 

Did you know when a gator goes underwater a third eyelid or membrane slides across the eye to protect it but to also give it better vision underwater.

 

I also heard these guys for the first time . I was taking photos of some birds near their pond and I thought 'wow that's strange for someone to be starting up a mower so close to me'!!

But no, it was the gator. Sounds exactly like a lawn mower lol.
