Shabbat Table Challa Cover in Leather

Shabbat Table - by Michoel Muchnik

This painting by Michoel Muchnik depicts Shabbat in a Jewish home. Bedecked with a beautiful tablecloth, the candles radiate their glow throughout the room. A Kiddush Cup is filled wine beside the Challa’s hidden beneath a colorful Challa Cover.

The window offers a glimpse into the evening sky in Jerusalem.

In the upper right corner the ten Sefirot are displayed in their triangle form. Sefirot comes from the word “Sapir” or “Sapphire” which glows and illuminates. The ten Sefirot also correspond to the intellectual and emotional faculties.

On Shabbos when we receive an additional soul, we hope that all of our personal ten Sefirot can serve to illuminate our lives, our homes and the world around us.

May we soon merit the coming of Moshiach and enjoy the “day that is forever Shabbat”.
