Joanie is Resilient

I'm posting this photo of Joanie, the Chacoan peccary, to use later on the Caring Bridge page of a friend with ovarian cancer. Joanie has also been diagnosed with ovarian cancer for several years. She has outlived her mate, and even the zoo's curator, who first told me about Joanie. She's a peccary! She doesn't know her diagnosis. So, she lives a happy life, greeting the humans who come to visit her.

 

I've been using photos as prompts to offer supportive thoughts to my human friend, a young adult who is receiving chemotherapy.
