labyrinth flower

My son explained to me that the stamen in the center of a daisy are arranged in a spiral shape. The ones forming the circle in the very center have not yet released their pollen . . .while the stamen farther out have. The pollen releasing works from the outside in, like walking through a labyrinth.

Once the spiral progression reaches the very center of the blossom, the circle in the middle is no longer visible and the whole blossom dies.

Daisies are often used as a symbol of peace. I can relate to that!
