Summer Fireworks At The Hub
OK....First of all, I don't think I've posted a Disney fireworks shot in over 6 months, which must be some sort of record for me. Between work and family, it's been almost impossible to get down to the park lately, and even when I finally managed to make it over there with the Greenings and Gregg Cooper recenlty, the fireworks were cancelled due to the Monstrous Summer thing they had going on.
So if felt GREAT to be back in the park last Sunday night looking for a spot to shoot from. I first considered shooting from New Orleans Square, but by the time I arrived, it was wall to wall bodies camped out for Fantasmic, so I headed back to the hub. When I tried shooting from the hub last year, the entire section on both sides of the Partners Statue had been blocked off for priority seating. But THIS year, only the front was blocked off so I began looking for a spot. I spotted a family munching away on Turkeylegs sitting directly in front of Partners, and I hovered nearby, like a vulture, waiting for them to leave. They finally finished their dinner and I swooped in with my tripod and set up hardly able to believe I found such a great spot only 40 minutes before the show.
The shot above isn't a Tom Bricker style 120 second exposure, but merely a 6 second exposure with a few tweaks from CS6 and Nik Efex.
I'm also hoping to pick up the pace a bit this Summer and get around to posting a bit more and viewing all of your photo streams. Things may bet quiet again for the next two weeks as I will race around from Page AZ to Yosemite to Tahoe and possibly over to San Francisco again before flying back to Virginia and DC to visit some friends. But after I return I hope to get back to posting more than one shot per week.
