Valley View Sunrise
Another shot from our amazing trip up to Yosemite back in February. On this particular morning, we got up at dark thirty and were out trying to shoot the Milky Way before 5 AM. After shooting the stars and blue hour from the Tunnel, we noticed the clouds above the East end of the valley and it suddenly occurred to us that the reflected light of of the Merced River down at the Gates of the Valley View could be pretty spectacular. It turned out that the view we left turned out to be pretty spectacular as well as can be seen by the shot that Gregg Cooper took. I think it was Ryan Pastorino, Corey Dorsey, and Tom Bricker who piled in to my truck to get the view from down here instead and I drove...um... carefully....down to the El Capitan cutoff hoping that we would still have some light on the clouds when we arrived. Thankfully we arrived just as peak color was beginning to hit.
I did want to mention that I am ALWAYS a careful driver. It has come to my attention that SOME people might be spreading wild stories concerning a certain Toyota Tundra and a 90 year old lady that was holding up traffic on the way out of the valley, but I really can't see how they would be true given my patient, long suffering demeanor. Just ask Corey, Ryan, or Todd!
On second thought...
