Dusk Falls On Assiniboine

I wasn't too crazy about trying to get back up the trail to the Nub after returning to camp on my last full day in Assiniboine. I had tried to take a short cut on my way back earlier that day and it didn't work out too well. I was also very short on sleep and just flat out exhausted. But there were still some clouds around....I was in freaking Assiniboine!

So I limped my way up there one last time. When I finally got to the top, the wind was howling and blowing tripods over left and right. At first it looked like I would get completely skunked, but for the briefest moment, a tiny bit of color sprang into the Western sky...and then everything got dark in a hurry.

It was a long, painful walk back to camp and people twice my age kept blowing past me on the way down. It wasn't long before I realized that I was definitely the last one on the trail...and my bear spray was back at camp. But suddenly it hit me that if I was eaten by a bear in Assiniboine...what a way to go! How cool would that look on a tombstone? "He died wresting a bear hiking in Assiniboine." Drop the mic.

On the other hand, it's amazing how fast you can walk when you think you hear a bear behind you and you're the last one on the trail.
