May 25 - woodpecker storage

A pine tree in a neighbor's yard which the woodpeckers seem to love as their winter storage. They make these holes then put an acorn in each one. Later they come back and eat the acorn. Blue jays and squirrels will also "raid the larder" so to speak. In some of the holes there is still part of the acorn shell, but that's a picture for another day.....
