Arashiyama bamboo forest
This is a slightly different take than the typical Arashiyama bamboo image, though I shot that one too. This is a bend in the road (yes, this is an actual public street for cars) that is about a quarter mile from the more popular photo location behind where I shoot this from.
This has been said a hundred times, and if you are studying for a Japan trip you know this- the only way to get this without people is to be there before the sun comes up. So that's just what my son and I did. We got there about an hour before the sun came up. This was actually shot on our way out, the sun was still working its way up, but it cast this neat light around the bend in the road. I actually had to time this one right to get no people in the frame, because the tours were starting to show up at 6am.You can see the sun behind the trees there.
