Banff hilltop

I was fortunate on the day we went up in the Banff Gondola to have dome dynamic clouds. Once up there you can leave the big structure at the top with restaurants, museums, and shops and take one of many trails all over the top of the mountain. My wife is apparently more adventurous than me because she wanted to take off on a dirt trail. With weather like this, I did not think that was so wise. So we stuck to the wooden boardwalk that went out quite a ways to this hill-top fire lookout. It was not used for that anymore, but had a neat exhibit inside to say what life was like living on the mountain.

I liked the way this walkway beckoned the traveler to the top. Whomever built the trail did a great job designing the walkway to beg, almost dare you to approach. The treeless mountain top created a stony look that also seemed bleak, almost hopeless. On top of that the air was cold, and the sky was foreboding. I wanted to capture the walkway, the call to march on, the look out, the weather that day, all blending to create a neat atmosphere. This was my attempt to capture that moment. Approach if you dare.
