Brooklyn and Manhattan Bridge ...
Much better if viewed large!
Picture taken from the 66/F obeservatory of 70 Pine Street American International Building, which was in 2009 the highest building in the South Manhattan financial district . It has since been overtaken by the new Freedom Tower ...
I was lucky to get access to this private observatory during a business trip to AIG, which gave me an opportunity to shoot lower and middle Manhattan from a lesser known vantage point...I was even more lucky with the very clear weather after a couple of days of grey skies and rain!
I got some questions as to why I shot this series on ISO 1600 in bright daylight?
We only had a couple of minutes up in the observation deck and I shot 2 quick series and used the remaining time to enjoy the view with my own eyes.... One serie was on ISO 200 and the other on F16 ISO 1600. I had to shoot handheld and could not use a tripod or any other rest for the camera. Moreover it was very windy outside on the small balconies. As I had the sun in my back I was able to get max dept of field as well as sharpness from my D3 with a 70-200 by cranking up the ISO and the fast shutterspeed .... The D3 performs extremely well on high ISO and without exception the 1600 ISO serie photos were better than the 200 ones...
