Seattle Skyline Study - I
Kerry Park, Seattle, WA.
This is an iconic view of the Space Needle and the Seattle Skyline from Kerry Park. Many pictures have been taken from this spot. I have taken my share as well. We went to Seattle over the weekend. I wanted to shoot the skyline along with Mt. Rainier as a panorama. But as often is the case in Seattle, it was cloudy and drizzling. Desperate that I was, we still decided to go to Kerry Park and try our luck. I set up shop, looked at the horizon, and there was a small window of the sky opening up. I thought there was hope. Sure enough, there was magical light that lasted only for a little while. For the rest of the evening, I took a series of shots, all bracketed for HDR. I will post a few of them in the next few days.
This is a HDR image. I used five shots and bracketed with increments of 2 EV. I used a Sigma 50-150 mm f/2.8 at 78mm stopped down to f/16. This image was shot at 8:27 PM. Sunset was at 8:59 PM.
I was also very happy with the Nikon D7100. As this image is most susceptible for moiré patterns, I was worried about D7100 performance in these situations without the low-pass filter. I am very pleased with the result.
Hope everyone had a nice and safe Memorial Day weekend (US).
