Shipwreck

Peter Iredale Shipwreck, Fort Stevens State Park, OR.

Skeletal remains of the Peter Iredale, a four-masted steel bark, that ran ashore on November 13, 1906, while trying to enter the mouth of the mighty Columbia River on a stormy and turbulent morning. After several unsuccessful rescue attempts to repair the ship and return it to sea, the ship was sold for scrap. Captain Lawrence's final toast to his ship was: "May God bless you, and may your bones bleach in the sands." This is a high dynamic range image that was generated by fusing five different high resolution images into a single image using Photomatix. Final image was done using Nik/Google Silver Efex Pro2 and it is a Duo-tonned image.
