The Wichita Kid
I love my memorial cards, but they sadden me, and the automobile wreck probably depicts a death car, so let's get back to something uplifting. This photo is merely a kid and a photographer, having fun together. The genre (head through the newspaper) was in the air around this time---I've seen other, more-or-less similar examples. As is often (but not always) the case, I like my version the best. The photographer is Baldwin & Son, 118 Douglas Ave., Wichita, Kan. Wyatt Earp had been a lawman in Wichita not that long before this photo was taken. He met his first wife there---her chosen profession was perhaps less honorable.
