From Lara Croft: Tomb Raider

 

This unique car was built especially for the blockbuster movie. Based on the popular video game, the film follows the adventures of Lara Croft, the swashbuckling 'cyberbabe'. The movie released in 2001, was filmed at Pinewood studios in England and stars actress Angelina Jolie in the title role.

 

The choice of vehicle for the film was easy for film director Simon West. "The Defender was the perfect choice to star as Lara's vehicle. The theme of the film is based on action and adventure, so Lara's vehicle had to rugged enough to match up to all the challenging stunts."

 

This special vehicle began life as a standard red Defender 110 high-capacity pickup. It took a ten-strong team from the Special vehicles department at Land Rover. Solihull, 500 hours to transform the car into a radical V8 powered beast, ready to combat any situation.

 

Finished in metallic Bonatti grey paint, the Defender features special body chequer plate, a roll-over cage and roof rack. The car is also fitted with an expedition tool kit, two winches, sat-nav and an amazing array of spot lamps.
