Degradation by nature

Something about the masses of dry seagull faeces got me thinking about this spot. The infamous Tacking Point Lighthouse chair that gives viewers a stunning ocean view and seascape masterpiece.

I decided to do yet another HDR of this place and go sort of over board with the colours in PP, but not to the extreme. I didn't bracket, but rather chose my exposures manually over the course of a minute or so and used the 4 best images to merge.

The chair is dedicated to someone, but I can't quite remember who. Apart from the bird droppings there was litter stuffed into the chair that I removed when I left. It's just a shame the local council can't clean such a great chair up, especially given it's place amongst such a historic landmark.

ABOUT TACKING POINT LIGHTHOUSE:

Tacking Point Lighthouse is Australia's third oldest lighthouse. It was built on a rocky headland about 8 kilometres south of Port Macquarie in 1879 by Shepard and Mortley, to a design by the New South Wales government's architect of the time, James Barnet. It is operated by the Australian Maritime Safety Authority and is classified by the National Trust of Australia (NSW).

Tacking Point was named by explorer Matthew Flinders in 1802 during his 1802–1803 circumnavigation of Australia.[1] Its nearest lighthouses are Smoky Cape Lighthouse at South West Rocks, to the north, and Crowdy Head Lighthouse, to the south.
