Delicate Arch
Oh! Delicate Arch. We Proved to be more delicate than you. We finished our morning hike at Arches on the Devil’s Garden Trail – about 7 miles if you include our detour. Our plan was to do one more hike to the must-see Delicate Arch and then leave to head towards Bryce Canyon. We had already taken down camp so we assembly lined some PBJs on the dashboard, wolfed them down, and took off towards the Delicate Arch Trail Head. When we got there we saw it was Just three miles round. We decided rather than to wait out the HEAT and fully recover from the morning we would just do it and get it done.
Never in my life have I bitched and moaned so much. People seemed to be lapping us on this “moderate” trail as we stopped to rest every seven feet. The SUN was pounding down on us and it was a three miles climbing the entire time. After pushing ourselves and pushing each other we finally made it. Delicate Arch. As soon as we got there a seven year old girl proceeded to tell us about how much fun she had getting up there and how great the hike was. That was only the first of our 3 mile hike fails.
