Air-Crane Refill

This S-64E Erickson Air-Crane helicopter was repeating a 5-minute routine starting with filling its 10,000 liter tank with water from the small lake at the center of Valles Grande, then flying it over to the nearby fires on the slopes of Redondo Peak and releasing it all at low altitude. Rinse, repeat.

 

This picture was taken directly opposite the sun so the lake surface was a brilliant yellow reflection.
