MONUSCO Force Commander General Ricardo Neves was in Matombo (36km northeast of Beni) and then to Mamove (about ten km west of Oicha) an area of armed groups including the ADF and MM and where the Force intervention Brigade has planted its units to protect civilians. He boosted the moral of South African peacekeepers who live in very difficult conditions because of the difficulty of the terrain (rain, sludge etc.) often preventing vehicles from leaving the base ,and encouraged them work to continue to pursue their mandate to protect the civilian population. In his delegation were several civilian and military officials including the commander of the FIB, Major-General Patrick Dube, the head of the Office ai of the MONUSCO Beni, Josiah Obat.
