On The Sideline
While Tom and I were on vacation in Oregon earlier this year, we stumbled upon this pond. Since our trip was mainly for him to fly his remote control gliders, he thought that it might be a nice diversion for me if we checked this little spot out. To my surprise there were lots of things there to see and attempt to photograph. There were beavers and a solo mink, raptors flying overhead and perched in the trees, and lots of migrating smaller birds to keep me entertained. Then this trio of American white pelicans flew in and joined the party. They swam around for a bit and then decided to hop up on a nearby log and take a break, as they huddled together, giving nice reflections on the still water below. Having been around primarily brown pelicans when I lived in FL, I still get thrilled when I encounter white pelicans. :-)
Yep, you never knew where a small, off the track, dirt road will bring you and what you'll find. I also never expected to spend a few "me" hours on "his" trip, so it was an all around pleasant surprise. Note: I could have used less mosquitos, though. LOL.
Happy Friday! Headed to the zoo this morning with Tom and Elliette, my granddaughter. Should be fun!
