When the 5 O'Clock Whistle Blows

TGIF! Even for me, I'm glad that it's Friday. It been a long week, full of time commitments and much to do, so Friday feels very welcome.... even if just for a change of pace.

Recently, we've been spending some time photographing the various birds of the rookeries in south Florida. There's always plenty of action going on and a great variety of birds as well. One of my favorite birds, the snowy egret, can be heard by it's very distinctive calls, or what I call chatter ... "wulla-wulla-wulla". When I hear that, I always try to find them, for I know that there's going to be some good action ... for they usually have a way about them that causes a "stirring of the pot" amongst the other birds. Before long, I find myself laughing at their vocalization and jumping around. LOL.

So, everyone knows that my husband, Tom, spends a lot of his time in the nature being my unofficial "sherpa" and spotter of wildlife (yes, he's got pretty good eagle eyes and generally brings his binoculars to find things that I generally can't see), but sometimes, he'll also bring his camera gear with him. As one who gets bored easily, he finds himself exploring the area outside of the action

hot spot", while I tend to stay on a subject longer. He's the one that will come back with an image of a crocodile spinning a fresh kill, while I'm photographing roseate spoonbills entering and exiting a pond ... alongside a few dozen photographers. LOL. You get the picture. This image was taken by Tom recently, which serves as proof that he does indeed photograph, though he's truly more selective than I. :-)

I love how he captured the snowy egret as it ran across the water and took flight. Reminded me of how I used to be when 5 o'clock came around on a Friday.

Yes, it's TGIF everyone! Thanks for stopping by to view. Hope everyone has a great weekend planned.
