Sunrise at OOB

Woke up this morning at about 4am for a 6am sunrise. I was thinking about heading to Scarborough Beach as I have never been there to shoot. From google earth it looked like there would be a pretty good hike on the beach to get to the rocks I wanted to photograph so I gave myself plenty of extra time. Turns out it was a good thing that I had that time as it appears there is no easy way to get into the park before opening. The gates to the parking lot are closed unless you hold a 24 hour pass and there is no street parking until Sept. 15th. Rather than risk a towed car (I have seen surfers parked here sometimes, but I would be the only one parked here this morning making me fairly conspicuous) I decided to try option number two. There are a few Portland Head Light shots that I have been running through my head for about a week now so I headed that way. The spots would be accessible at all but the highest tide. Checked my phone on the way over and of course, high tide was at 6am... That left me just enough time to get to choice number 3, OOB. Luckily got there just in time to park and run. This is the second series of shots I took that morning.
Sunrise was one of those intense color, no detail in the clouds kind of sunrise so I used the pier to break up the solid colors. Seemed to have worked out ok, this is easily my favorite OOB shot I have taken.
