The Future

The manly friend and I broke up. He dumped me as a girlfriend, and after we spent a really great week together hiking in Virginia (a couple pictures to come later), I dumped him as a friend.

 

I'm disappointed. And until I was able to get angry about it, I was pretty broken up. But I'm grateful to him. I look back at our friendship and at our relationship with good memories and fond feelings. He taught me how to trust again, and how to look to the future, and be hopeful. I'm disappointed that the future we started to plan wasn't in the cards for us. And while we aren't friends, and likely never will be again, I'm glad it happened the way it did. We ended badly enough that it's very final, and I can accept that, but not so badly that it tainted the memories I have.

 

I thought it was time for forever, but it wasn't. But I know now that I will have it someday.
